Cheung Chau is famous on Bun Festival, Traditional cultures and foods. May to August is the high peak of Cheung Chau tourism. Visitors are recommended to visit in off-season to have a more comfort environment.Bun Festival is a Traditional Chinese Festival held at Cheung Chau annually. The islanders organize a weeklong thanksgiving to celebrate the festival. On three of these days, the islands goes vegetarians, most of the restaurants will follow the traditions. Especially, local McDonalds provide mushroom burger to substitute meat burger.
Besides, Bun-stanching is another event on Bun festivals. Nowadays, It becomes a competitions that athlete climb up to bun tower to get the most buns within two minutes.
Parade of floats is a addition on lion and dragon dances. Local children dressed as legendary or modern celebrities and suspended above the thin rod. The propose is representing gods are protecting Islanders.
